Writer Gary Dauberman told Den of Geek in June 2019 that his goal with the new version of Salem’s Lot is to make vampires scary again
Plot
The author returns to his hometown of Jerusalem’s Lot in search of inspiration for his next book, only to find the town’s inhabitants under attack by a bloodthirsty vampire. He wants to move away from the sexier, more romantic undead that have infected popular culture for much of the last quarter-century, in everything from Interview with the Vampire to Twilight to The Vampire Diaries. When Ben reads old newspapers on microfilm at the library, the headline reads, “Local Couple Victims of Drunk Driving.” The newspaper was supposedly printed in 1956, at a time when the term “DUI” was not yet in use. Ok, I just watched one of my favorite Stephen King novels
Sundown Author and performer: Gordon Lightfoot Courtesy of Warner Records With permission from Warner Music Group Film & TV Licensing. I loved the 1979 version, which I eagerly watched when I was 15. I had been waiting to watch it for a long time, at least since the whispers started that a remake was going to be made. The movie wasn’t terrible, I gave it a six (that might be too generous) because the movie was worth watching.
The acting was just okay
I was really hoping it would be remade with the same acting commitment that “It” had when it was last remade. Everything was a bit off in this movie. The character development was almost non-existent. They could have done a lot better developing interest in the characters.
Why remake something if not to make it great!
I think it was too fast towards the end, the ending was awful, some of them should have slowed down a lot! Why? Stephen King is an amazing writer and if the production is done right it should be amazing. Very disappointed…
