After an angry incident at their elite college, siblings Caroline and Lucien attempt to maintain their power and reputation by seducing the daughter of the US Vice President. This will be the third attempt to create a television series based on Okrutne Namieres pasla (1999). The direct-to-video sequel, Okrutne namjere 2 (2000), in which Amy Adams replaced Sarah Michelle Gellar as Catherine Merteil, was originally a scripted TV series before being adapted into a feature film. Gellar would later reprise her role as Kathryn in the NBC pilot Cruel Intentions (2016) in 2016, which was not ordered to series.
