This will be the third attempt to create a television series based on the world of The Cruel Name (1999)
Plot
After a humiliating incident at their elite school, half-siblings Caroline and Lucien decide to maintain their power and reputation by seducing the daughter of the Vice President of the United States. The direct-to-video sequel Cruel Name 2 (2000), which replaced Amy Adams as Sarah Michelle Gellar as Kathryn Merteuil, was originally a scripted television series before being adapted into a feature film. Gellar later reprised her role as Kathryn in the 2016 NBC pilot Cruel Intentions (2016), which was not ordered to series.
Who cast this series?
It follows The Cruel Name (1999). What did they play?! Lucien looks like a twelve-year-old doll found in a thrift store.
He’s just unbearable
There’s no way any 20-something girl would find him attractive or irresistible. The girl who plays the vice president’s daughter is not very convincing. Terrible acting.
Maybe then it would have appealed to a younger audience and not been compared to the movie
Terrible script. Terrible casting. I don’t think they should have called it “Cruel Intentions” or used the names of characters from the movie.
