True to Jeff Lindsay’s books
The visual contrast between the darkness of Dexter’s secret life and the glitz of Miami adds an almost surreal quality. The character development is right on the money, slowly revealing the backstory so one can see the development of Dexter’s sociopath personality and his confusion of human behavior compared to his own. Dexter is an actor in his own life; his relationships between colleagues and his personal life are well represented in video media.
The fact that he’s an expert at splattering blood
It’s a dark work, but its setting in the strange world of Miami life is almost believable. The developers of this series should also check out Andrew Wax’s books.
